Jesper and Hywel joined the August Family Collection because of the convenience the homes provide, and they also have an appreciation for contemporary interior design. The Family Collection locations suit this couple's busy schedules and they wanted to take advantage of European locations and now they're excited to see what the areas have to offer, as well as the hassle-free second homeownership they've been looking for.

Prior to the pandemic, we travelled across the world for holidays but recently we have explored Europe more. We had forgotten how easy it was to travel more locally and Europe is the ideal continent to visit for weekends and short holidays. We found ourselves appreciating short distance travel and the idea of purchasing a second home abroad was something we wanted to fulfil but we didn't want the challenges associated with second home ownership. We discovered August on Instagram and began reading about co-ownership and how the model works. We looked at other co- owning companies who were offering one home in one location, and it didn't make sense for us because we'd rather have the flexibility and choice of co-owning multiple homes.

Why co-ownership?

Prior to the pandemic, we travelled across the world for holidays but recently we have explored Europe more. We had forgotten how easy it was to travel more locally and Europe is the ideal continent to visit for weekends and short holidays. We found ourselves appreciating short distance travel and the idea of purchasing a second home abroad was something we wanted to fulfil but we didn't want the challenges associated with second home ownership. We discovered August on Instagram and began reading about co-ownership and how the model works. We looked at other co-owning companies who were offering one home in one location, and it didn't make sense for us because we'd rather have the flexibility and choice of co-owning multiple homes.

Which collection did you join?

The Family Collection was a perfect fit for us, the proximity of airports as well as the combination of city and the outdoors suited our approach to holidays. The fact that the homes are all centrally located, close to everyday amenities, and surrounded by history and character was ideal for the type of holidays we enjoy.

The hassle-free process that comes with co-ownership with August is a huge factor to why we joined up and we’re so glad we don’t have to manage the upkeep and refurbishments to the homes.

We've experienced the stress of acquiring and renovating a home before. We have a a second home in the Cotswolds and the joy we get from weekends away is fantastic. We understand the challenges that come with second homeownership in this country let alone abroad, so when we started to explore Europe as an option, we knew we didn't want to do it ourselves.

We had been looking at buying holiday homes and we found ourselves gravitating towards the south of France, but we got overwhelmed looking at different places and the thought of having to take time out of our schedules to view places was demanding.

Which home are you excited to stay at?

One of the Family Collection’s home locations is in Barcelona, we fell in love with the city last year. We both liked the idea of being able to pop over to the Cannes or to the Barcelona home whenever it's convenient and we know the homes will be ready for us to make ourselves at home. Also, as we're late skiers, we're looking forward to staying in Chamonix, so we'd like to spend some time there not only skiing but also seeing what Chamonix has to offer in the summer.
